Top 5 Memorable Guys For Singapore Idol
Steven Lim - The Stripper Guy: Can anyone say media whore? First, he dresses up like a Gladiator roller-blader. Next, he introduces himself to the judges as a 'famous street eyebrow-plucker' who wants to be a 'full-time entertainer'.
Then, he does an atrocious headbanging version of She Bangs. To top it all off, he strips down to his yellow Speedos. Career boost? More like career suicide.
Kelvin Sim - The Lemon Tree Guy: He sprouted from a Fool's Garden indeed - and boy was it a sour performance.
Complementing probably the most Ah Beng song on the planet with his own hilarious brand of para para dance moves (arms flailing, body twirling, fingers making V-signs), all we can say is: Move over William Hung.
Patrick Khoo - The Careless Whisper Guy: Here's one singer who believes in adhering to the song's title - literally. He was so inaudible, the message 'Do Not Adjust The Volume Of Your TV Set' popped up - but he still managed to kill us softly with his song.
When he pleaded with the judges to tell him how to improve, Ken laughed: 'In order to tell you what went wrong, we have to hear you first!'
Alastair Tan - The Cute Guy: He had the looks, charm and voice of a Singapore Idol - but not the commitment.
He drove the final nail into the coffin by admitting that he rehearsed his 'spur-of-the-moment' song only the day before the auditions, and that he didn't want to be 'that driven yet'. The blase attitude left Dick feeling 'insulted', and a potential heart-throb goes out the door.
Rocky Wang - The Shanghai Guy: You know how opera singers are known to shatter glass? Well, it might have happened if this classically-trained tenor was allowed to falsetto his way through the rest of The Beatles' Yesterday.
Even when the judges ordered him to cease and desist, Rocky refused to leave, got all wayang, and protested in halting English: 'You won't be regret (sic)! I do have the voice! All of them out there think I have a good voice! I'll be in the Top 10!' Instead, he ended up sobbing into host Gurmit Singh's T-shirt.
