Had lunch with Leonard today at the Japanese Restaurant Tampines SAFRA.
Leonard asked me out for lunch over at Tampines SAFRA. We agreed to meet at Bedok Bus Interchange at 12pm. He brought along another female friend of his. We took a bus to Tampines SAFRA. On the way there, Leonard introduced us to each other. Briefly smiled at each other and chatted a bit. Her name is Carol, presently studying at NUS. She is of the same age as me, a very active girl from what Leonard had said.
Reached Tampines SAFRA at 12.30pm. The Japanese Restaurant is having a buffet from 12pm until 3pm. After paying before we went into the restaurant, we began to stack our plates with food. There were sushi, ice cream, seafood, satay, cakes and deserts. Leonard's friend was considered to be a big eater despite her petite build. We chatted a lot in the midst of lunch, from sports news, food to even our daily lives. She is in a way different from some of the girls, whom I came across. From the conversations that we had, I felt that she is very outgoing and very knowledgeable. Had a very great time talking to her and the lunch was extremely lip smacking. At around 2.10pm, she had to go as she had a tuition session later at 3pm over at Sengkang. Said our goodbyes to her and Leonard and me continued with our feast.
We continued to grab more food and chat about having a gathering after our graduation ceremony. Came up with several ideas on networking the class. At around 2.40pm, the waitress told us that it was the last round of food serving. Decided to go off since we had our fill and were unable to continue to eat anything more. Just before we left, Leonard grabbed some chocolates to eat.
Leonard received an SMS asking him if he wants to play soccer. So he asked me if I am interested in joining his friends in a game. I told him the weather is very hot, the sun was shinning so brightly and we are in jeans. He dropped the idea and we went to Tampines Mall. Since Carol's birthday is coming soon (20th Of August), Leonard was thinking of looking for a gift for her. So we went to Precious Thots, Mini Toons and other shops. He couldn't find a suitable gift for her. Leonard suggested going to Challenger to buy some CD-Rs.
When we got to Challenger, we met Leonard's ex-Primary classmate. Leonard chatted a while with him, while I lingered in Challenger. After buying his CD-Rs, we decided to head towards home. Was walking towards the Bus Interchange when we saw Simon with his friend sitting in front of MacDonalds smoking. Went over and said hi. Simon was quite surprised that I was with Leonard. Caught up a bit with one another. Learnt that his enlistment date is on the 17th of August. Anyway, he forgot to register for our graduation ceremony, so he will not collecting his diploma with us.
Continued to the Bus Interchange. Leonard called his friends to find out whether they are still at TP. We met someone, whom we totally unexpected. MR LIM BOON TECK!!! Our ISAD Lecturer. His attire was so casual. Striped T-shirt, cargo pants and an umbrella in one hand. He greeted us and asked us how we are doing. Gave the normal answer "Like that lor. Still got how?". I find it very weird to see him at this time (5.25pm). Usually at this time, most lecturers will still be in TP at this time. So I asked him how come he is so free to be out shopping. He told us that he had quitted and is now currently unemployed. He saw his bus coming, so he left us his contact number and asked us to call him to chat. Whoa, a totally different person from the Lim Boon Teck that we seen in TP. 10 minutes after Mr Boon Teck left, my bus came. Parted with Leonard.
Today seems to be a very good day. We keep on meeting people, whom we know from the past. During the bus trip, I kept on thinking about Mr Lim Boon Teck. He is totally not what I expected him to be. Well, I do admit that he changed my life a lot. At the whole time I am in his class, I wasn’t even interested in the subject. He managed to get me going and passed the subject. Another lecturer, who I need to thank very much, is Miss Mandy Mak. She is one of the lecturers, whom I enjoyed attending lessons with. Well, I am thankful that I have graduated, and these will be in the wonderful memories that I had for my Polytechnic years.
